Welcome aboard Can Too
We are excited to announce that participants in GACCC can now raise funds for Can Too Run and Swim! Whether you are competing as an individual or for your school, get involved and make a difference in the search for a cure, prevention and research for cancers.
The Can Too Foundation is an independent health promotion charity committed to funding cancer research and prevention. Since 2005 Can Too has raised $23M to fund 180 Australian cancer research projects and trained over 16,000 participants to be fitter and healthier.
The health promotion charity is fighting cancer on two fronts – reducing cancer by getting people moving through goal-specific fitness programs and improving patient outcomes through funding lifesaving Australian cancer research projects.
Can Too CEO Peter McLean was impressed with the initiative the Great Australian Cross Country Challenge demonstrated to encourage school students to not give up and that they Can Too reach their fitness goals.
“I’m thrilled that Can Too and the Great Australian Cross Country Challenge are teaming up,” said Mr McLean.
“It’s clear to see that both organisations share values including that you can too achieve goals that you never thought possible, be it training for a fitness goal, raising funds for cancer research or running a solo cross country distance. It’s now more important than ever to not give up on our goals due to physical isolation.”
The Great Australian Cross Country Challenge will get students and schools all over Australia running, walking and staying active during isolation. Participants can race solo, record their results and course virtually and compare their results to competitors all over Australia!
The charity partnership will enable participants in the challenge to raise money for the Can Too Foundation to fund early career cancer researchers.
The Great Australian Cross Country Challenge begins May 15 and will conclude with the full results being completed by August 31.
Can Too are also offering online options to keep running, giving back to cancer research and connected with the Can Too community with the Run into Spring program, find out more here: https://www.cantoo.org.au/
